The crash happened in Brentwood at about 4:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
SCPD said a 2018 Mercedes was westbound on Suffolk Avenue when the vehicle struck the rear of a westbound garbage truck in the 900 block of Suffolk Ave.
The woman who was hospitalized was a passenger in the Mercedes, and she has not yet been identified, police said.
The 51-year-old Lake Grove woman who was the driver of the Mercedes, the 32-year-old Holbrook man who was the driver of the garbage truck, and his passenger were all uninjured, authorities said.
The Mercedes was impounded for a safety check, police said.
